Yoga Monkeys

Age Group: 4 to 6 years old
Class Length: 45-60 minutes
Class description: This age group loves to talk, laugh and play games exploring their creative minds.  We start each class with an open circle where all the kids go around and share something with the group – a funny joke, school field trip, and a story about a vacation or weekend adventure.  Parents are enjoyed to leave the premise during the class in order to give each child an opportunity to do something on their own without Mom or Dad participating.  The emphasis for this age group is for everyone to leave each yoga class feeling like a winner.  Kids in this age group tends to only want to sit next to their “best friend(s)” but we encourage kids to partner with someone they don’t know in hopes of making new friends.
Space is limited: 10 kids plus parent/caregiver per child
What to bring: Please bring your own yoga mat to avoid the spread of germs and a water bottle with a spouted lid.  Wear comfortable clothing ready for movement.

Rising Yogis

Age Group: 7 to 11 years old
Class Length: 60-minutes
Class description: Kids love a good discussion.  We begin each class with an open dialogue discussing one of the yoga principles emphasizing the importance of a community and connection with others. As the kids attention span begins to grow, the classes start to resemble more like an “adult yoga” class – flowing sequences, partner work, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques.  Each class promotes the importance of peace, honesty, generosity, positive thinking, teamwork and helping our environment.  At the end of every class we end the yoga session in the restful/restorative pose --  Shavasana (corpse pose) while listening to soothing music and/or a peaceful guided visualization.
Space is limited: 10 kids plus parent/caregiver per child
What to bring: Please bring your own yoga mat to avoid the spread of germs and a water bottle with a spouted lid.  Wear comfortable clothing ready for movement.

Yoga Stars

Age Group: 10 to 13 years old
Class Length: 60 to 90-minutes
Class description: Our kids have very, very, very busy schedules filled with many challenging obstacles and unable to commit to a weekly class session.  These workshop classes are intended to promote the yoga principles to our preteens and teens searching to fit in and find a place where they can connect with themselves and others.  Often our preteens and teens hormones are changing and unpredictable moods are occurring wanting to challenge authority and rules.  In order to make the kids feel as comfortable as possible there are separate classes for boys and girls.  If we remove the stress of the opposite sex the kids can feel less modest and embarrassed about any body issues they might be dealing with at the present time.  Our goal for the separate classes is for both groups to fully enjoy and benefit from their yoga practice.  During these workshops we teach the importance of merely being aware of these changes and offering a safe and secure place for them to be with their feelings.  We encourage group discussions about the yoga principles based on the Patanjali’s Yamas (attitudes or values) and the Niyamas (personal healthy habits).  As the preteens and teens get older we teach the Hindi, Sanskrit yamas and niyamas – ahimisa (non-violence), satya (truthfulness), asteya (non-stealing), brahmacharya (moderation/non-greediness), shaucha (purity), santosha (contentment), tapas (austerity) and svadhyarya (self-study).
Space is limited: 10 kids plus parent/caregiver per child
What to bring: Please bring your own yoga mat to avoid the spread of germs and a water bottle with a spouted lid.  Wear comfortable clothing ready for movement.
